quick and simple makeup routine for tired skin
hey everyone! welcome back, it's Keira here, and i’m going to be real with you – today i’m feeling tired. allergies have left my face puffy and red, and i’ve been dealing with some acne too. so, i wanted to share my quick and simple makeup routine that takes less than five minutes and will have you looking and feeling more awake and refreshed. plus, i’ll give you some of my best tips for when your skin isn’t at its best. let’s get into it!
step 1: concealer
let's start with concealer––I wear shade 003N. when your skin isn’t doing great, cream products are your best friend because they help hydrate and blend seamlessly. using a cream concealer will cover redness and acne without needing a full face of foundation. heavy makeup can sometimes make you feel worse, so stick with something light and easy to apply.
tip: if your eyes are puffy, try massaging pressure points in the inner corners of your eyes and above your eyebrows. it only takes a couple of minutes and can make a big difference. prepping your skin with a hydrating moisturizer before applying makeup is also crucial.
step 2: bronzer
next, I like to use bronzer with the brush that comes in the bottom of the subtl stak. this small but mighty brush is perfect for bronzer and highlighter. apply the bronzer with an upward blending motion to lift your face. you can also use the brush for a quick nose contour by applying bronzer on the sides of your nose and blending it up to your eyebrows.
step 3: lip balm
don’t forget lip balm! i love using the zestination coco because it’s incredibly hydrating and smells amazing, which can really lift your spirits. the clean ingredients in subtl’s products mean you can feel good about wearing them. even if you’re short on time, applying lip balm can bring some life back to your lips.
step 4: lip & cheek
today, i'm using lip & cheek in the shade mauve in the maldives. this pretty pink shade is perfect for summer. apply it to your cheekbones using your fingers to help it blend seamlessly with the cream concealer. you can also add a bit to your nose for a cute, cohesive look.
step 5: additional bronzer
to enhance the bronzed look, I like to use a darker bronzer shade like latte in my crease for a quick eyeshadow substitute. a bronzer and highlighter combo never fails and is perfect for a quick, no-fuss look.
step 6: highlighter
finally, use the champagne highlighter. apply it liberally to your nose, cupid’s bow, forehead, and eyelids where the light naturally hits. this adds a beautiful glow to your face.
tip: subtl’s dry brush cleaner is a lifesaver when you’re in a pinch. it’s made of a mesh material that quickly removes product from your brushes (though you should still regularly wash your brushes to prevent acne!)
final look
this routine is super simple, using only five products (excluding the dry brush cleaner), and leaves your skin feeling awake, lively, and hydrated. while it’s fun to experiment with lots of products, sometimes it’s best to stick to the basics.
