an experiment in color
hello, everyone! keira here with an exciting beauty experiment for us to try. this was actually suggested by a subtl customer and I was mind-blown by this idea. why have i never thought about experimenting with lip and cheek color combinations before!? this is especially perfect as we transition from summer to fall.
creating a quick and simple makeup look
before we get into the mixing magic, let's start with my go-to makeup routine. i'll begin with my concealer in shade 003N. pro tip: if your concealer feels a bit dry, remember to warm it up with your finger for about 15 to 20 seconds to make it super creamy and easy to apply.
for a base, i always start with sunscreen, and lately, i've been loving the supergoop glow screen. it's fantastic and doesn't make my skin break out. it's my go-to.
today, i'm skipping foundation because i want to show you how to use concealer to cover redness effectively. i'm genuinely loving the new concealer formulation; it blends seamlessly with the skin and is hydrating.
now, let's get our brows done – it's like making your bed first, even when your room is a mess, to feel put-together.
it's quite warm here, so i'll use the four piece brush set for a little shine control powder. a quick swipe with the dry brush cleaner should do the trick.
bronzer for a natural glow
next, bronzer time. i had latte in my stack, but it's a bit dark, especially when i'm not using full foundation. so, i'm switching to leche. here's a handy subtl tip: keep the plastic lids from your individual products to store them separately.
i adore leche, especially for the fall season when my skin tends to be a bit paler. remember, bronzer isn't just for your cheeks; you can apply it all over – forehead, cheeks, and under your jawline. it warms up your face beautifully.
bronzer isn't just for your face; it's also the perfect eyeshadow. using this dual-ended eyeshadow brush, i apply bronzer in the crease and under the lower lash line. it's one of my favorite makeup hacks; using products for multiple purposes is a time-saver. i even apply a little bronzer on my nose, creating a subtle contour effect.
finally, i'm adding a touch of shimmer with the powder highlighter in champagne. now, here's where the fun begins.
mixing lip and cheek colors
now comes the exciting part – experimenting with two different lip and cheek colors. to create this unique look, i'll apply a dot of terracotta tour guide and a dot of mauve in the maldives using my fingers. then, i'll blend them with the stippling brush from the four piece brush set.
i must say, these brushes are top-notch, and you won't need any others. they are compact, great for travel, and the brush heads are the perfect size.
the result is fantastic! the blend of terracotta tour guide and mauve in the maldives gives me a lovely coral-like color, reminiscent of a shade from 1.0 that i adored. this combination isn't as vibrant, but it's definitely my new favorite.
i even applied this unique blend to my lips, starting with mauve in the maldives and topping it with terracotta tour guide.
final touches
a little extra bronzer to warm up my face, tie everything together, and i'm good to go.
this experiment was a success! it's a super quick and easy way to create a unique and personalized lip and cheek color. i'm especially in love with how it turned out on my lips.
