don't know where to start? here are some simple makeup tips for beginners!
hey guys! welcome back to the subtl youtube channel. it's keira here, and today we're diving into an exciting topic: what to buy for makeup beginners or those feeling a bit unsure about their makeup skills. if you've ever felt overwhelmed or frustrated by the world of makeup, or perhaps you've been curious to start fresh but felt intimidated, you're in the right place. this video is all about simplifying makeup, making it accessible, and helping you feel confident in your routine.
prepping your skin
now, the first thing you need to know as a makeup beginner is that prepping your skin is just as important as the makeup products that you buy or use. there's two things you need to know about prepping your skin: a good lotion and a good sunscreen. for a face lotion, if you're someone that's just simplistic, you could use ravi or laroche, any of those drugstore brands are totally fine, just like a lightweight lotion. obviously you want to wash your face too. so at the very minimum, cleanse and lotion, okay, you want to get any grime and makeup off from the night before, and then you're going to want a good sunscreen as your base.
essential makeup products
now, next is the products that i would recommend you buy as a beginner.
concealer
the first thing is going to be a concealer. if you're a beginner, you shouldn't even bother with foundation. learning to do your foundation right is really tricky. so if you're just starting out, get a good sunscreen base and just do a concealer. i recommend one with creamy consistency like the subtl beauty's. it's a perfect shade match and blends seamlessly into the skin.
eyebrow pencil
i recommend an eyebrow pencil if you need to fill in sparse areas. choose one with a spooly on one end for blending and a pencil on the other end for precise application.
bronzer
bronzer adds dimension to the face and gives a sunkissed look. for a subtl bronzer, try the shade leche and apply it in a three shape for a natural contour.
highlighter
cream highlighter is great for dry skin. apply it on the high points of your face for a radiant glow. subtl beauty offers cream highlighter in shades like rose, perfect for a subtle shimmer.
blush
a lip and cheek product is versatile and easy to use. it adds color to your cheeks and lips, simplifying your routine.
lip balm
prepping your lips is important too. subtl offers scented lip balms like strawberry stopover, which moisturize and add a hint of color.
shine control powder
if you have oily skin, a shine control powder like subtl's can help mattify your complexion without looking cakey.
optional: mascara
you don't need mascara if you have eyelash extensions, but if you prefer, try drugstore options like l'oreal voluminous or nars mascara for added definition.
tools
you do not need a bunch of fancy brushes. the subtl stak comes with a handy little brush in the bottom, perfect for bronzer application. another option is the stak brush bff, which is great for on-the-go touch-ups. for eyeshadow, a dual-ended eyeshadow brush is convenient and easy to use.
so there you have it, simple makeup tips for beginners. with just a few essential products and minimal tools, you can create a beautiful look effortlessly. don't feel overwhelmed by makeup anymore – embrace simplicity and have fun experimenting with your new routine!
