5 minimalism tips for your beauty products

Minimalism. It’s become such a hot topic these days and a lot of that is in part due to documentarian Matt D’Avella’s film: Minimalism: A Documentary About The Important Things. Long story short, this documentary is based on a fantastic bookwritten by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodermus (we highly recommend) and it tells you to get rid of the shit that doesn’t add value to your life. We swear it’ll inspire you to get rid of 90% of your stuff. It’s pretty intense, but there are many levels at which you can apply minimalistic practices to your lifestyle.

For those of you who are just trying to do a little better, a major way to cut back on your “stuff” is by dialing down on your beauty products. Seriously, how many shampoo bottles in your shower do you actually need? One. The answer is one.

If you’re unsure of where to start, let’s start here with the 5 beauty products you need for the minimalist in you!

1. Subtl Beauty Makeup Stack

Subtl Beauty Stack - all your makeup in a single kit

Why you need this product:

This compact makeup stack can be held in the palm of your hand while it supplies you with all of the full-sized makeup products you need to look fresh and flawless throughout the day.

With most compact make-up products, you sacrifice the amount of product you get, making it impractical for daily use and less economically efficient due to frequent re-stocking.

Problem solved.

The Subtl Beauty stack will last you 10X longer than traditional compact products, and the stack eliminates the need for a makeup bag. Thank goodness for that.

Might we add, the lip/cheek duo gets extra bonus points for its 2-in-1 magic!?

 2. Cleansing Conditioner

Renpur Conditioning for minimalist living

Why you need this product:

We’ve got another 2-in-1 masterpiece on our hands. Have you all heard the hype about the #nopoo movement? If you haven’t, let’s fill you in.

People are ditching shampoo altogether and finding a way to treat their hair kindly while keeping it healthy, clean and environmentally friendly! While some people ditch hair products completely and do water-based rinses or oil masks, we have a less drastic solution. We like the Renpure Cleansing Conditioner Solutions, as they are 100% vegan and are designed to cleanse your hair without stripping it of its natural oils.

Your hair will feel clean, soft and shiny while using one product rather than two!

 3. Moisturizing Shower Bar

Why you need this product:

What even is a moisturizing shower bar? Basically, just a bar of soap with extra moisturizing qualities meant to clean your skin while leaving you soft, moisturized and smooth when you step out of the shower.

We like Lush’s Scrubee with its exfoliant qualities mixed with super moisturizing ingredients. Products like these rock because you step out of the shower ready to go without having to stand in the cold and rub lotion on your body.

This product will also eliminate your plastic use, thus making you a good friend of the plastic-free movement. YAY!

4. Moisturizer with SPF

supergoop products are great for dual-purpose moisturizing products with SPF

Why you need this product:

Honestly, this seems like a no-brainer, but let’s talk about it anyway.

If you aren’t up to date on the importance of sun care all year round, whether there’s overcast or cloud-free skies, start reading! Some may even say that sunscreen is the single most important product you will put on your face daily not only for your health but to reduce wrinkles! Add a little moisturizer and basically, you’re an A+ skincare student. We really like anything in the Supergoop family when it comes to sun care! They moisturize and protect with varieties of your usual creams to super moisturizing SPF oils. BOOM – you are moisturized and protected from the sun’s harmful rays. Thank us later.

 5. Argan Oil

Josie Maran Argan Hair Oil is 5-products-in-one for minimalistic living

Why you need this product:

Argan oil may be the most do-it-all product in the game, you guys. It can truly replace at least four of your daily-use products.

We like Josie Maran’s as she is literally the queen of the argan oil movement. What’s the hype, you ask? If your hair is looking a little frizzy, a few drops of argan oil with tame the mane in no time. Dried out and peeling cuticles? Rub some argan oil into those bad boys and let them heal!

It works beautifully as a daily or nightly facial moisturizer and is even great as an overnight lip mask to hydrate and replenish those lips. Not to mention, the tiniest bottle lasts basically forever. There ya go. Four products in ONE!

That’s all folks. Hopefully, this list helps the minimalist in you work your way towards a more meaningful life with less waste, less space, and more time to focus on the things that MATTER!
