get ready with me for the new year!
hey everyone, it's finally 2024, and today, I'm going for that light blush, glowy look to kick off the new year. I just love the beginning of a new year, you know? feels like there are so many possibilities. I always set habits around this time, trying to be intentional about it.
a glowy base
starting with some spot concealing using the cream concealer in 017W because I've got some hyperpigmentation going on. now, onto my go-to cream highlighter, usually rosé, but today it's espresso martini. brown girls, seriously, you need this. it's that good.
a pop of color
now that my base is done, time for the terracotta tour guide lip and cheek cream blush. my current favorite – it adds such a nice warmth. by the way, january is my month to go all out. new things, new experiences. I guess I'm just more open at the beginning of the year?
next up: bronzer
bronzer time! cocoa is the shade, and let me tell you, it's my all time favorite. it's perfect for everything, even eyeshadow and contouring the nose. don't be scared of it because it blends so beautifully. it's a superstition thing in my family to start the new year with no trash in the house. and you have to eat black-eyed peas and collard greens on new year's day for luck and money. random, but family traditions, you know?
finishing with powders
now i'm using my tried-and-true pink in a pinch powder blush. this color shows up SO beautifully on my brown skin. for some reason, I set goals more at the beginning of the year than any other time. not big on new year's resolutions, but goals – yeah, I do those.
powder highlighter in champagne is the finishing touch, following my #1 tip: creams first and finish with powders. to tie it all together, i'm going to try terracotta tour guide on my lips today and okay, I'm obsessed. super pretty, right?

looking back on 2023, my goal for this year is to grow on youtube, tiktok, and instagram. and of course, I want to travel somewhere new – make it a thing every year. oh, and more quality time with friends and family. I'm very comfortable alone, just give me a book and some smooth jazz and I'm good, so I spend a lot of time alone, but I want to change that.
