Obsessed.
If you've been asking SUBTL for more cool-toned shades, today is your day.
I was so excited to finally get my hands on these new launches because I know they've been at the top of so many wish lists for a long time. And after trying them for the first time, I can confidently say they're going straight into my everyday Stak.
The two new additions are Drift Eyeshadow Duo and Petal to the Metal Lip + Cheek, and together they create the prettiest cool-toned makeup look.
Petal to the Metal: My New Favorite Lip + Cheek
Let's start with Petal to the Metal.
The moment I swatched it, I knew I was going to love it. It's a gorgeous cool-toned dusty mauve that gives the most natural flush to the skin. As someone who reaches for the (sadly, retired) shade Mauve in the Maldives constantly, this feels like the perfect sister shade. It's a little deeper, a little cooler, and perfect if you love those rich rosy tones.
I applied it to my cheeks with the stippling brush and instantly fell in love. It adds color without looking overdone and gives that fresh, healthy flush that works for everyday makeup.
After setting everything with BB Powder, I went back in and added a little more because it was just that pretty.
Drift Is Officially Replacing My Go-To Eyeshadow Duo
Next up was Drift, our brand new cool-toned Eyeshadow Duo.
I have been a huge fan of the Bon Voyage duo (also retired) for a long time, so I was curious to see how Drift compared. The best way I can describe it is that it feels richer, cooler, and a little more sophisticated while still being incredibly easy to wear.
I started with the lighter shade through my crease and immediately noticed how pigmented it was. The color blended beautifully and created soft definition without much effort. Then I added just a touch of the deeper shade for extra dimension.
The finished look felt polished but still very natural, which is exactly what I want from an everyday eyeshadow.
And if you have blue eyes, I think you're going to absolutely love this duo. Cool-toned shadows really make them pop.
Why I'm Loving This Monochromatic Look
One thing I noticed right away is how beautifully these shades work together.
The cool rosy tones in Petal to the Metal pair perfectly with the taupe tones in Drift, creating an almost monochromatic look that feels cohesive without being boring.
To finish everything off, I used Petal to the Metal on my lips with our Retractable Lip Brush and topped it with Undone Lip Glaze, which is still one of my all-time favorite shades.
My Final Thoughts
Honestly, I knew I was excited about this launch, but I wasn't expecting to love these shades quite this much.
Petal to the Metal gives the perfect cool-toned flush, Drift creates effortless everyday definition, and together they make one of my favorite makeup looks I've worn in a long time.
If you've been waiting for SUBTL to launch cool-toned shades, I think you're going to be very happy with these. As for me? They'll definitely be staying in my everyday Stak.
