how to clean your makeup brushes
we get it. for most of us, it’s hard enough making time to wash our hair, let alone our makeup brushes, but brush cleaning is a lot simpler and quicker than you think.
here’s what you need:
- baby shampoo
- paper towel
one thing to note before cleaning your brush is to always have the bristles facing down. you don’t want to allow any soap or water to seep into the base because it could loosen the glue that holds the brush together.
step 1
wet your brush in warm water to remove the makeup that might be lingering on the surface.
step 2
combine three pumps of baby shampoo and warm water in a cup. dip and your brushes into the cup, swirling and massaging the bristles to remove the makeup caked on.
step 3
rinse the brushes in warm water. If your brush is especially dirty, you may want to repeat step 2.
step 4
use a paper towel to gently dry the brushes by squeezing in a downward motion. then place each brush with the bristles over the edge of your table or counter to speed up the drying process. let them dry completely before using them again.
pro tip: include brush cleaning as part of your Sunday night self-care routine! go ahead and put on your favorite face mask so you can clean your brushes while you wait for the mask to dry. the brushes will have plenty of time to dry overnight so you can use them the next day.
