how to use concealer as cream bronzer and contour

Hey Subtl beauties! It's Keira here, and I'm thrilled to share a fun and easy hack with you today: using a darker concealer as a cream bronzer or contour. This trick is perfect for those who want to simplify their makeup bag while still achieving a beautifully sculpted look. I recently gave this a try, and spoiler alert: I’m obsessed with the results!

How to Apply Dark Concealer as Bronzer/Contour

Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieving a gorgeous bronzed or contoured look using just your Subtl concealer:

  1. Prep Your Skin: Start with your usual skincare routine and apply your base makeup. For this look, I skipped foundation and just used the Subtl concealer in 004N to even out my skin tone, covering any redness around my nose, chin, and under the eyes.

  2. Choose Your Shade: I tested out two darker concealer shades: 014N and 015C. For my neutral undertones, I found that 015C worked best! Remember, contour shades are typically cooler, while bronzers are warmer.

  3. Application: You can apply the concealer directly with your fingers or use the Subtl stippling brush for a more precise application. Start by dabbing the concealer onto the areas where you’d typically apply bronzer or contour: under the cheekbones, along the jawline, and around the hairline.

  4. Blend, Blend, Blend: Use your fingers or the stippling brush to blend the concealer into your skin. Don’t worry if it looks intense at first—Subtl’s creamy formula blends beautifully into the skin for a natural finish. You can also add a little bit under the chin or as a nose contour.

  5. Finish Your Look: To complete the look, I added a pop of color with Lip & Cheek in Terracotta Tour Guide with a touch of Apricot Avenue Powder Blush, topped with a touch of Cream Highlighter in Rosé. For the eyes, I used the Bon Voyage Eyeshadow Duo, and for the lips, I used Guava Getaway as a lip liner with Terracotta Tour Guide in the center. A swipe of Bronzer in Leche and some brown mascara finished things off perfectly.

Final Thoughts

I am seriously loving the versatility of Subtl’s concealers—not only do they cover imperfections, but they also double as amazing cream bronzers or contours. The 015C shade added the perfect amount of warmth to my skin without looking too heavy or unnatural. If you haven’t tried this yet, I highly recommend giving it a go.

Have you ever used a dark concealer as bronzer or contour? If so, what shade worked for you? I’d love to hear your experiences, so be sure to leave a comment below. And don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more beauty tips, tricks, and tutorials—new videos every Sunday!
