achieving natural makeup with medium coverage
hey guys, it’s kira here. welcome back to the subtl beauty youtube channel! today, i’m trying something a little different – i've removed my lash extensions temporarily due to some allergies and decided to play around with new makeup looks. i've also been dealing with some breakouts, so we're diving into a medium coverage makeup routine using foundation. let's get started!
prepping the face
first up, i’m using the light reflecting foundation. this shade might be a bit light for me right now, but we’ll make it work with some bronzer. i usually use about two to three pumps and apply it with a damp beauty blender. remember to squeeze the blender in a clean paper towel to remove excess water. i like to leave parts of my face, like my nose, without foundation to keep it looking natural.
next, i always apply some lip balm. today, i’m using the destination cocoa lip balm to hydrate my lips in preparation for lip and cheek products.
concealer and bronzer
now, onto concealer. i’m using subtl beauty’s concealer in shade 3n, but i’ve also ordered 4n to see if it matches my slightly darker skin tone better. this concealer is so smooth and creamy – it’s a favorite of mine.
for bronzer, i start with a cream bronzer contour stick, applying it to my cheeks, nose, and chin. instead of drawing straight lines, i tap and swipe to create a warm, natural look. i follow this with a powder bronzer to set everything in place, ensuring a long-lasting glow.
adding highlight and blush
next, i'm applying the gin fizz highlighter. it’s one of subtl beauty’s newest and it’s absolutely stunning. i use the brush from the four-piece brush set to apply it to my cheekbones, giving me a beautiful, radiant glow.
for blush, i’m using the lip and cheek in runway to rose. i apply a small amount with my fingers, blending it out to achieve a dewy, sun-kissed look. i also use it on my lips for a cohesive finish.
eyeshadow and eyeliner
moving on to eyeshadow, i’m using the staycation duo. first, i apply gin fizz as my base shade, followed by the shimmer shadow from staycation on the outer half of my eyes. i finish with the matte shade in the crease using an angled eyeshadow brush. the pigmentation of these eyeshadows is fantastic.
for a subtle winged liner, i use the dark eyeshadow shade in dune. since i have hooded eyes, i apply it with my eyes open to ensure it looks right. this powder liner technique elongates and lifts my eyes beautifully.
finishing touches
lastly, i curl my lashes and apply voluminous mascara. without my lash extensions, my lashes are very straight and short, so i use a hair dryer on a cool or warm setting to help curl them after applying mascara. i’m still experimenting with different mascaras.
the final look
and there you have it – the final makeup look! i’m really happy with how it turned out. it’s been an adjustment not having lash extensions, but this natural look feels refreshing. let me know what you think of this mascara look compared to my usual lash extensions.
