When you’re working from home, it can be hard to get in a good rhythm. It’s easy to get distracted by your kids, pets, Netflix, etc. Creating a routine can help keep you on track and ensure you’re still getting all your work done. Go ahead and write it down or type it out to get a good overview of your work-from-home day.
This is what my work-from-home schedule looks like:
I am NOT a morning person so I make sure the beginning of my day is full of things to look forward to like a yummy breakfast and a refreshing getting ready routine.
By this time, I’ve got some coffee in my system and I’m on a roll getting things done. I like to do the most important work now because I’m the most productive.
A midday break is important because it gives me a chance to step away from my work and come back to it with a fresh perspective. I like to have a light lunch and get active in some way during my lunch break.
I tend to get a little sleepy after eating lunch so I leave the low priority or smaller tasks for this time.
Before I finish out the workday, I like to go back over my to-do list to make sure all the most important tasks are done. After that, I set aside some time to decompress.
Continuing to maintain your personal hygiene, diet, and exercise regime is part of staying productive. Although it’s tempting to stay in your pajamas and work in bed, that’s not a sustainable or productive way to go about working from home. Try making a schedule for yourself, even if that’s just making sure you’re washing your face and getting dressed every day.
This is an example of what my to-do list looks like:
